The Minister pledges further support to the Kenya Policy Hub and its activities
Nairobi, Kenya - 22 November
Hon. Dr. Mohamed Kuti EGH, Member of Parliament and Minister for Livestock Development (MoLD) expressed his explicit support to the Kenya Policy Hub to ensure its continuity and sustainability. The minister has also acknowledged the recommendations made by the Policy Hub to further work on the policy areas it has identified.
A new study on "Wealth Index Mapping in the Horn of Africa" is released
Worldwide, approximately 1.4 billion individuals have been classified as 'extremely' poor; surviving on less than $1.25 a day. Nearly three quarters of the extremely poor live in rural areas, with most rural households depending on agriculture as their source of income. In addition, the livestock sector has become one of the fastest developing agricultural sub-sectors, exerting pressure on natural resources.
The Ethiopia Livestock Policy Forum Reaffirms its Affiliation to the Ministry of Agriculture

The Ethiopia Livestock Policy Forum, which addressed issues of sustainability and continuity of its operations on September 6 and 7 in Modjo, Ethiopia, agreed to remain under the Animal and Plant Health Regulatory Directorate of the Ministry of Agriculture (MOA).
IGAD LPI Policy Forum members promoted to key government positions
IGAD LPI warmly congratulates the following prominent members of its country teams on their promotions to key government positions:
Mr Mohammed Moussa Ibrahim became Minister of Transport and Equipment, Dr Kamal Tagelsir Elsheikh has been promoted to General Director of Livestock Economics and Planning at the Ministry of Animal Resources and Fisheries (MARF); Dr Ammar Sheik Idris Omar has now taken over the post of Director for International Relations; Mr Abdallah Barkat Ibrahim has also been promoted to Director of the Professional Training Centre.
Uganda Policy Hub Ensures Sustainability
Kampala, August 23-25
In its meeting from August 23 to 25, 2011 in Kampala, the Ugandan Policy Hub elected to take rapid measures to ensure continuity and sustainability of their Policy Hub and Information Node after IGAD LPI ends in February 2012.
